Life isn't a Story . . .

Imagine for a second: an employer refuses to hire you because of your skin color. Or perhaps a teacher hands you a bad grade, not for the sloppy work, but because she doesn’t care for you. Or maybe someone serves you a hard punch in the jaw because he disagrees. Or imagine a bank that borrows your money, but won’t give a penny back. What would you do? Complain, right? Because that’s wrong – because you deserve better. Of course, you’ll go straight to the source first. And if that doesn’t work, there’s the lawyer. But what if you couldn’t?

The only thing worse than having something terribly unjust happen, but being able to go complain for help, is watching something happen, and not being able to do anything at all. Like watching your brother sentenced to death for a crime you know he didn’t commit, or being emotionally abused because there’s no proof: watching something terrible happen, and being helpless to stop it. It feels like being locked up to a 8 foot chain link fence, and watching someone devise a bomb that will blow up the world. What would you do?

But what if you couldn’t?

If, I couldn't, I would believe in the power of the karma, and the world around me. That they will have similar experiences or something in return that the university would give them eventually, maybe not today or tomorrow or even 2 years down the road, but during some point in their life they will pay for their actions. I have a similar situation, my math teacher hates me and gave me an F not so much that I deserved it but because she did not care for me. But I was unable to do anything. I was in a hopeless position. I believed in the power of karma, and it came around. Now that teacher has the principal breathing down her neck. Karma.

I refuse to believe in Karma because it takes away our responsibility to own to our mistakes.

I think that bad things happen. There doesn't need to be a reason, there doesn't need to be a cause. They merely happen.

Now, some people ask me, well, you believe in God, right? I answer, Of course, I do. They ask, then why do bad things happen?

Because we have the ability to choose between right and wrong. We have the ability to affect the outcomes of every event. If something inexplicably terrible happens, it's not your fault. There will be no Karmic retribution. It merely occured.

Now, back to God. Some people believe that if God really were all-powerful and good, then nothing bad would happen. But, if nothing bad ever happened, could you sin? Is it possible to sin if nothing bad can happen? What sin would you commit? Rather than let us live our lives like machines, incapable of thought and decision, God made us capable of doing evil. Thus, bad things -must- happen. But not always. We have the ability to choose between what we see as good and what is evil. Every living human being has a conscience. Whether it has been deadened by their society or not is irrelevant. But bad things happen. They must. Or else, good things can't happen.

This guy >Glass Mannequin< is interesting

Anyway.
Ah yes a helpless situation. I try to keep track of my limitations…they are many.
That being said…when such a situation arises…I’ll simply do what I did in the past: go insane trying to fix the problem…then think about a better solution…and if it’s still hopeless, simply dry my eyes and walk on.
What would you do?

Oh by the way…thanks for the reply the other day. It made me think for a while.
I still have a pretty limited view on life and such, so it’s nice to hear another persons thoughts on issues that come up.

Later.

Glass Mannequin said it for me. God gave us Agency so that we can have happiness, because without the bad, how do we recognize the good?

If I was in a situation where I could not stand up for myself, I don't think that I could honestly say what I would do. I don't think that I know myself enough yet to make that kind of call.

Life isn't a story?
Well, if I believed that there might be a chance that I could indeed do something; I would try, even if it seemed impossible.

Like Michael Scofield breaking his innocent brother out of Fox River and trying to bring down the Company by stealing Scylla.

Changing the world as I desire seems impossible and multiple people have said this, but if I think I have a chance, well then I'll use that chance and die protecting it.

That's the Gold Promise

Wow this was great. It had me thinking if my life was really that way. I am thankful it is not quite that way.

Thanks for letting us know that our lives could be worst.
