- As you can tell from my complete profile, I love getting out & doing physical activities, as well as I love the arts. Most people tell me I'm kind of quiet, but maybe that's just because I believe actions speak louder than words. However, I'm definitely a people person & there's hardly anything I enjoy more than hanging out & having fun. I love my friends, and would do anything for them. Whenever I have my heart & will set on a goal, nothing can stand in my way of accomplishing it and trying to be the best in whatever I do.

Maybe a better word to describe fear would be that it protects. We fear fire so we don't stick our fingers in it and get burned. You don't mind having it around you because you aren't going to get burned. Fear is a defense mechanism. Look at deer, rabbits, birds, fish, they all run away when a predator is around because fear is protecting them. We do the same thing.
Secondly, you asked what does joining a football team prevent. Now that I have corrected my statement of what fear does, I presume that you can guess. Football strengthened my defenses by making me stronger both physically and mentally. The rest you can get.
Lastly you said, "I think rather fear spurs us and inspires us to do what we wouldn’t normally do in ordinary situations." I'm not so sure this is correct. People fear different races and different cultures, and I would say these are not very inspiring.
Fear is simply a defense mechanism.
